The wine is our first Estate Grown Syrah that we are releasing.. In 2002 we planted three 2 acre blocks of Syrah each block representing a different clone. Two of the clones are French clones and one comes from Australia. We found that a blend of the three clones makes a better wine than each clone by itself. This wine represents the three clones.
This wine has a deep color with dark berry aromas combined with spice and mint. The dark berry flavors carry to the palate adding layers of cherry, pomegranate and cassis. This well balanced wine is full of bright fruit and very dry. The wine finishes with a long and lingering finish adding baking type spicy flavors combined with toasty and almost meaty notes. This is a big wine worthy of aging for several years for optimum quality.
